AN AFFORDABLE COURSE FOR ALL?
The PCP Education and Training Company Ltd views the provision of affordable learning a primary consideration for the current era. Additionally, it hopes to avoid the need for already experienced and learned practitioners to have to ‘re-invent the wheel’.

INITIAL ACCEPTANCE A student is required to have some professional recognition status in a profession and some two years minimum experience in that profession. Examples of profession can include but not be limited to:-
Social Work, Probation, Nursing, Medicine, Teaching, Architecture, Management, Counselling, Psychology.
FOUNDATION If a student has no initial knowledge of PCP, they may be strongly urged to undertake a “Foundation Course” in PCP
LOG BOOK A student is asked to undertake the keeping of a Log Book of their experience and learning which explores 60% of the “Syllabus” of PCP. In this endeavour students are asked to consider employing a consultancy with a tutor who can, by virtue of experience and learning, guide in the quite complex facets of PCP such as Repertory Grid, Conversational Strategies, Formulations and Action dimensions.
BELONGING A student is asked to consider joining a guided tutorial online group of similar students at some stage early in their growth in order to help them digest their learning, practise perspectives and prepare their “creative exam”
CREATIVE EXAM A student, when considering themselves ready, perhaps guided by the opinion of others in a tutorial group and people they might have consulted, prepares an imaginary scenario suitably matched to their own field of work, creatively describing something of a PCP way of formulating the process, describing what action might be taken and imagining the ‘measurement’ of an outcome. A referenced account is sought.
The Creative Exam may be repeated until the end of life of the scheme or the person! PCP is not an excluding perspective.
EXAMINATION The “creative exam” along with references, a random sample of Log Book entries and a Certificate of Tutorial Group attendance proceeds to the Examiners’ hands who comment and assign a Pass. A further professional Reference is sought to confirm that which applied at the initial Acceptance Stage.
Or – as suggested creatively by John Fisher a PEER REVIEW EVENT
EXPENSE For the student, expense only occurs at Initial Acceptance, the buying in of consultancy when needed, a group tutorial facilitator when needed, the accessing of literature and the fee for examiners.
NB. Perspectives is intended not to provide a qualification for a stand-alone-therapy training but as people encountering pcp have often indicated, an enhancement which is beneficial for working with people and also for self development.
The Certificate, representing probably a minimum of 150 hours of study [1 – 2 years or more, realistically – 3 – 10 hours per week], gives a substantial input into Continuing Professional Development in the student’s own field and potentially some contribution to widening influence through writing, promotion or consultancy. It might be possible to secure permissions for it to be a pathway into the UKCP Diploma.
